Gevalia is a prominent coffee brand with deep roots in Gävle, Sweden, where it was founded in 1920 by Victor Theodor Engwall. The brand name itself is the Latin name for the city of Gävle. For decades, it served as the official coffee provider to the Royal Court of Sweden, cementing its prestige.

Today, Gevalia is a global brand under the stewardship of JDE Peet's, a leading international coffee and tea company. While the brand originated as a Swedish family business, its manufacturing now spans various facilities to meet European demand, though the primary roasting plant remains in Gävle. The ownership transitioned through Kraft Foods and Mondelez before becoming part of the specialized JDE Peet's portfolio following the merger of Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Peet's Coffee in 2020.
