Founded in 1949 by the pharmaceutical laboratory Lacer S.A., the brand initially focused on cardiovascular medicine before becoming a household name for dental hygiene. For decades, it remained a flagship independent Spanish family-owned company, known for pioneering alcohol-free mouthwash formulations and specialized periodontal treatments.

In a significant industry shift in late 2022 and early 2023, the Italian healthcare giant Italfarmaco Group acquired Lacer S.A. This acquisition integrated the historic Spanish brand into a larger international pharmaceutical network. While the ownership has shifted to an Italian parent company, manufacturing remains heavily concentrated in Spain, particularly at the Cerdanyola del Vallès plant in Barcelona, ensuring the brand maintains its local heritage and high-quality production standards.
