Arc'teryx is a high-performance outdoor equipment and apparel brand founded in North Vancouver, Canada, in 1989. Known for its technical innovation and sleek design, the brand began with climbing harnesses (originally under the name Rock Solid) before expanding into high-end waterproof jackets and footwear. The Konseal line featured in the image is specifically designed for technical approach and alpine hiking, utilizing materials like GORE-TEX and Vibram outsoles.
While the brand maintains its design and research center (Arc’One) in British Columbia, the majority of its manufacturing, particularly for complex footwear and technical shells, takes place in high-precision facilities across Asia, primarily China and Vietnam. The brand's identity remains deeply rooted in the Canadian Coast Mountains, which serve as the primary testing ground for their products.
In terms of corporate ownership, Arc'teryx has undergone several transitions. It was acquired by Salomon Group (Adidas) in 2001, then sold to Amer Sports in 2005. Today, Amer Sports—which also owns Wilson and Salomon—is controlled by a consortium led by the Chinese sportswear giant ANTA Sports. Despite this international ownership, Arc'teryx operates as an autonomous brand headquartered in North Vancouver.
