FootJoy is one of the most storied brands in the world of golf, having been founded in Brockton, Massachusetts, in 1857. Originally part of the Burt and Packard Shoe Company, it eventually became the Field and Flint Company before rebranding to FootJoy. The brand has achieved legendary status on the PGA Tour, maintaining its position as the top choice for professional golf shoes for over seven decades.
Today, manufacturing for FootJoy is carried out through a global supply chain to meet international demand. While design and development are rooted in the United States, production takes place across multiple countries, particularly in Southeast Asia (notably Vietnam and China) where specialized technical footwear manufacturing is concentrated.
Since 1985, FootJoy has been a flagship brand under the ownership of Acushnet Holdings Corp. In 2011, Acushnet was acquired by a consortium led by Fila Holdings Corp. (formerly Fila Korea), making it a major subsidiary of a global sports conglomerate based in Seoul, South Korea. This ownership structure has allowed FootJoy to maintain its premium branding while expanding its technological capabilities in performance sports apparel.
