Green Giant, known locally in many Spanish-speaking markets as Gigante Verde, is one of the world's most recognizable brands in the vegetable category. The brand's history dates back to the early 20th century in the United States, where it was founded by the Minnesota Valley Canning Company. It became famous for its iconic mascot, the Jolly Green Giant, which was introduced to market particularly large varieties of peas.

Over the decades, the brand underwent several ownership changes. It was owned by Pillsbury for a significant period before being acquired by General Mills. In 2015, a major shift occurred when B&G Foods acquired the brand to expand its portfolio of shelf-stable and frozen foods. Today, while B&G Foods owns the brand in North America and many other regions, General Mills retains ownership of the brand in certain international markets, including parts of Europe. Manufacturing is decentralized, utilizing numerous agricultural facilities across the Americas and Europe to ensure proximity to harvesting sites.
