Continente is a leading private label brand primarily focused on the Portuguese market. This snack product, a mini cereal bar, is part of the extensive range of food items sold under the banner of one of Portugal’s largest hypermarket chains.

The brand was originally established in the 1980s when the first hypermarket opened in Matosinhos. Over the decades, it has become synonymous with retail in Portugal. As a private label, manufacturing is typically contracted to European suppliers, with a significant portion of their food production taking place within Portugal to support local industry and maintain supply chain efficiency.

The brand is currently owned and managed by MC (formerly Sonae MC), which is the retail arm of the Sonae Group. Sonae is a major Portuguese multinational business group with diverse interests in retail, real estate, and telecommunications, headquartered in Maia, Portugal.
