Garmin is a leading global provider of navigation and wearable technology. Originally founded as ProNav by Gary Burrell and Min Kao in 1989 in Lenexa, Kansas, the company was later renamed Garmin—a portmanteau of the founders' first names. While the company was initially established in the United States, it incorporated in Switzerland in 2010 for corporate structuring, while maintaining its primary operational headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.
Garmin's dash camera products are part of their automotive segment, designed for driver safety and incident recording. Most of Garmin's high-tech electronics, including their dash cams and GPS units, are manufactured in their own production facilities in Taiwan, allowing for tight quality control. Garmin Ltd. remains an independent, publicly traded company on the NASDAQ exchange, and its products are distributed worldwide through various regional subsidiaries.
