Darboven in 1993, making it one of the pioneers of Fairtrade-certified products in Europe. The raw coffee beans for the Aromatico blend are sourced primarily from certified cooperatives in high-altitude regions such as Peru and Honduras.

While the beans are grown internationally, the roasting and packaging processes are primarily carried out in Germany at J.J. Darboven's facilities. The company remains a family-owned enterprise led by the Darboven family, maintaining a long tradition of coffee roasting that dates back to 1866.
