Kunnskapsforlaget is a renowned Norwegian publishing house that specializes in encyclopedias, dictionaries, and digital reference works. This specific product is a Spanish 'pocket dictionary' (lommeordbok) designed for the Norwegian market. Originally established in 1975 to manage Large Norwegian Encyclopedia (Store norske leksikon), the company was a joint venture between two of Norway's largest publishers, Aschehoug and Gyldendal.
Over several decades, Kunnskapsforlaget became the definitive authority on language and knowledge in Norway. Today, the brand and its dictionary portfolio are owned by Gyldendal ASA, following the restructuring of the joint venture. Most of their physical publications are printed in Norway or neighboring European countries to serve the local educational and consumer market.
