Rotel is a long-standing Japanese family-owned high-fidelity audio brand founded in 1961 by Tomoki Tachikawa. While the brand originated and maintains its engineering headquarters in Japan, it entered a strategic partnership with the Bowers & Wilkins Group in the 1980s for global distribution.

Starting in the late 1990s, Rotel shifted its primary manufacturing to its own dedicated factory in Zhuhai, China, to maintain quality control while remaining competitive. In 2020, through the acquisition of Bowers & Wilkins, Rotel became linked to Sound United, which was subsequently acquired by the American medical technology company Masimo Corporation in 2022. As of now, Rotel remains a distinct brand within the Masimo Consumer audio portfolio, continuing to design premium hi-fi equipment.
