El Rashidi El Mizan is one of the oldest and most iconic brands in Egypt, specializing in sesame-based products like Halawa and Tahini. Founded in Cairo in 1889, the brand began as a small family operation and grew to become the market leader in the Middle East. The Halawa shown is a traditional dense confection made primarily from sesame paste (tahini) and sugar.

While the brand has deep Egyptian roots, its ownership shifted significantly in the 21st century. After being acquired by various private equity firms, it is currently owned by the Silk Invest fund through its African Food Systems platform. Despite these investment changes, production remains concentrated in Egypt, where the company operates large-scale manufacturing facilities to serve both local and international markets.
