Ryobi was founded in Japan in 1943, originally starting as Ryobi Seisakusho Co., Ltd. making die-cast products. Over the decades, it diversified into printing presses and eventually power tools. The brand became globally synonymous with reliable power equipment for both DIY enthusiasts and professional contractors.
While the brand has its roots in Japan, the manufacturing of Ryobi power tools and outdoor products is now a global operation. A significant portion of its tool production is centered in China within sophisticated manufacturing hubs. However, to meet local market demands and diversify supply chains, components and products are also assembled in Vietnam, Mexico, and the United States.
The ownership of Ryobi is split into different segments. The Ryobi Limited company continues to operate in Japan focusing on die casting. However, the international power tools and outdoor equipment division is owned and operated by Techtronic Industries (TTI), based in Hong Kong. TTI licenses the Ryobi name and has been instrumental in expanding the brand's 'ONE+' system, which allows multiple tools to share the same battery platform.
