Värska Originaal is a renowned natural mineral water that originates from the small village of Värska in Southeast Estonia. The water is sourced from an artesian well (no. 7) located 470 meters underground, where it has sat protected for millions of years, acquiring a distinctive mineral profile that includes sodium, potassium, and chloride.
The production began in 1973 during the Soviet era, and today it remains one of the most recognizable Estonian brands. The water is bottled directly at the source to ensure purity and preserve its natural mineral composition. Owned and operated by AS Värska Vesi, the brand has expanded its presence from local markets to international distribution, particularly within the Nordic and Baltic regions.
The brand is celebrated for its deep cultural connection to the Seto region of Estonia and is often characterized by its slightly salty taste, reflective of its ancient mineral heritage. The ultimate ownership remains within Estonia, maintaining its status as a cornerstone of the Estonian beverage industry.
