Remington is one of the oldest and most iconic names in the American firearms industry, having been founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York. The brand gained worldwide fame for its innovation in pump-action shotguns and bolt-action rifles, most notably the Model 870 and the Model 700. For over two centuries, it served as a primary supplier for the United States military and civilian hunters alike.
In recent years, the brand underwent significant corporate restructuring following the bankruptcy of its previous parent company, Remington Outdoor Company. In 2020, the brand's assets were divided among several buyers to ensure the continuation of its legacy. The firearms manufacturing division was acquired by the Roundhill Group LLC, which now operates the brand under the name RemArms.
Today, high-quality production continues at the historic Ilion, New York facility and other domestic sites. While the licensing for ammunition and accessories is held by separate entities (such as Vista Outdoor for ammunition), the Remington firearms brand remains a staple of American manufacturing, focused on modernizing its classic designs for a global market of enthusiasts and professionals.
