This specific variety is classified as 'Latte Fieno', a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) product, meaning the cows are fed according to traditional methods primarily involving fresh grass and hay, with a strict ban on fermented fodder (silage).

The brand Mila is the commercial face of the Latte Montagna Alto Adige cooperative. It is deeply rooted in the Alpine landscape, sourcing milk from thousands of small mountain farms located at high altitudes. The brand ownership is a cooperative structure, meaning it is owned by the very farmers who produce the milk, ensuring that the economic value remains within the local South Tyrolean community. The production and packaging take place in dedicated facilities in Bolzano and Brunico, maintaining a short supply chain from farm to carton.
