Maclean's is Canada's premier general-interest magazine, founded in 1905 by the visionary publisher John Bayne Maclean. Originally launched as The Busy Man's Magazine, it was renamed Maclean's in 1911 and evolved from a trade digest into a significant cultural institution. Over its century-long history, the publication has shifted from a bi-monthly magazine to a newsweekly, and eventually to its current monthly long-form journalism format. It is renowned for its authoritative annual university rankings and deep investigative reporting on Canadian social and political issues.

The magazine is produced and printed within Canada, maintaining its identity as a quintessentially Canadian publication. Throughout its existence, ownership has evolved from the original Maclean-Hunter Publishing to larger corporate entities. Since 2019, the brand has been part of the St. Joseph Communications portfolio, following a significant acquisition from Rogers Communications. This move placed one of Canada's most historic media brands under the stewardship of the country's largest privately held communications company.
