Maclean's Magazine

Maclean's is Canada's premier general-interest magazine, originally founded in 1905 by John Bayne Maclean. Starting its life as The Busy Man's Magazine, it was rebranded to Maclean's in 1911 and has since evolved into a staple of Canadian journalism. For over a century, it has provided in-depth reporting on politics, culture, and national identity, famously producing annual university rankings that serve as a gold standard for higher education in Canada.

Throughout its history, Maclean's has transitioned through various ownership structures, spending significant time under the Maclean-Hunter umbrella. In the late 20th century, the brand became part of the Rogers Communications portfolio through their media division. In 2019, a strategic shift in the Canadian media landscape led to its acquisition by St. Joseph Communications (SJC), which remains the current owner and publisher.

The publication is primarily produced and printed within Canada, maintaining its status as a homegrown media entity. Under the stewardship of SJC Media, Maclean's has transitioned from a weekly news format to a monthly long-form monthly publication, focusing on high-quality investigative journalism and creative visual storytelling for a modern audience.
