CUPRA Vehicles

CUPRA was originally established as the high-performance sub-brand of SEAT (Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo). In February 2018, it was officially launched as a separate, independent enthusiast brand to focus on a unique design identity and electrified performance. While it shares deep roots with SEAT's heritage in Barcelona, it has evolved into a global brand targeting a younger, performance-oriented demographic.

Manufacturing for CUPRA is primarily centered in Martorell, Spain, where most of its core models are assembled. However, as part of the Volkswagen Group's global production network, some models or components are manufactured in other locations. For instance, the CUPRA Tavascan is produced in China, and certain SUV models share production facilities in Germany to optimize the group's platform sharing and production efficiency.

Today, CUPRA is fully owned by the Volkswagen Group. This ownership allows the brand to utilize advanced automotive technologies, such as the MEB platform for electric vehicles, while maintaining its distinct Spanish design flair. The brand serves as a bridge between the volume market and the premium performance segment within the Volkswagen Group's multi-brand ecosystem.
