NAD (New Acoustic Dimension) was founded in London, United Kingdom, in 1972 by a group of audio industry veterans led by Marty Borish. The brand was established with the goal of creating high-quality audio equipment that focused on performance and value rather than unnecessary features or flashy designs. Their most famous product, the NAD 3020 amplifier, became one of the best-selling hifi components in history, cementing the brand's reputation for high-fidelity sound at an affordable price point.
Over the decades, ownership shifted from the UK. In 1991, NAD was acquired by the Danish company AudioNord, and subsequently, in 1999, it was purchased by the Lenbrook Group. Today, the brand's engineering and design philosophy remains rooted in its original acoustic principles, while its corporate headquarters is based in North America.
Manufacturing of NAD products primarily takes place in specialized facilities in China and other parts of Asia, allowing for high-spec engineering to be delivered at competitive price scales. The brand continues to be a leader in the audiophile market, evolving from analog amplifiers to modern high-resolution digital streaming and multi-room audio solutions.
