Autogrill is the world’s leading provider of food and beverage services for travelers. Originally founded in Italy in 1977 following the merger of several motorway restaurant businesses (Motta, Pavesi, and Alemagna), the brand expanded globally to serve airports and motorways in over 30 countries. It is widely recognized for its high-quality espresso and proximity to major transit hubs.

In recent years, the company underwent a major structural transformation. In 2023, the Benetton family, which had long controlled Autogrill through Edizione S.p.A., completed a strategic merger with the Swiss travel retail giant Dufry. This merger resulted in the formation of a new entity, which was later rebranded as Avolta in October 2023. While the Autogrill brand name remains highly visible on European motorways and in global airports, it now operates under the corporate umbrella of Avolta, headquartered in Switzerland.
