Coffeecompany is a prominent Dutch chain of coffee bars first established in 1996. It was founded in Amsterdam by Rick Thijssen and Dick de Kock, inspired by the coffee culture of New York and London. Since its inception, the brand has been a leader in the 'specialty coffee' movement in the Netherlands, focusing on high-quality beans and a modern urban atmosphere.
In terms of ownership, the brand has undergone significant transitions. It was acquired by the Dutch retail giant JAB Holding (via JDE Peet's) in 2011. However, in a major strategic shift in 2021, the brand was acquired by Albron, a leading Dutch foodservice organization. Today, Albron manages the operations and expansion of Coffeecompany, while the coffee itself is still often roasted and sourced through specialized partnerships to maintain its craft heritage.
