Ownership and Evolution

For decades, Rip Curl remained one of the largest privately-owned surf brands until it was acquired in 2019 by Kathmandu Holdings, which later rebranded as KMD Brands. Today, Rip Curl operates as a key pillar of this global outdoor apparel group, continuing to lead in technical surfing equipment while expanding its lifestyle and streetwear presence.
