Rip Curl is a legendary brand in the surfing world, established in 1969 by Doug Warbrick and Brian Singer in Torquay, Victoria, Australia. Originally known for crafting high-quality surfboards, the company quickly transitioned into pioneering technical neoprene wetsuits, which cemented its reputation as 'The Ultimate Surfing Company.' This focus on technology and performance has kept the brand at the forefront of action sports for over five decades.

While the brand maintains its creative roots in Australia, its manufacturing is a global operation. Rip Curl operates its own wetsuit manufacturing facility in Thailand, known as Onsmooth Thai, which ensures specialized production of high-performance gear. In 2019, Rip Curl was acquired by the New Zealand-based outdoor retail group Kathmandu Holdings (now KMD Brands), marking a significant shift in its corporate structure while maintaining the brand's core identity.
