The brand transitioned from being part of a century-old optics giant to a specialized entity focusing on high-performance mirrorless cameras and outdoor photography equipment.

While the brand's heritage and engineering core remain firmly rooted in Japan, the manufacturing strategy has evolved. The primary production facilities moved from China to a major manufacturing hub in Vietnam, though some high-end lens Assembly and quality control still take place in Japan.
