Santa Cruz Bicycles is a premier manufacturer of high-end mountain bikes, founded in a space behind a cannery in Santa Cruz, California. The brand gained fame for pioneering the Virtual Pivot Point (VPP) suspension technology, which has become a hallmark of their performance-oriented mountain bike frames. While the engineering, design, and final assembly tasks often take place at their headquarters in California, the actual manufacturing of their carbon fiber and aluminum frames is primarily handled by specialized facilities in China and Taiwan.
