Yorkie is a well-known chocolate brand originally launched in 1976 by Rowntree's in York, England. It was specifically created as a chunky, heavy-duty alternative to traditional smooth chocolate bars. The Raisin & Biscuit variant remains a staple of the brand's identity, popular for its combination of chunky milk chocolate and crunchy textures.
Following the acquisition of Rowntree's in 1988, the brand became part of the Nestlé portfolio. Today, Yorkie bars continue to be manufactured predominantly at Nestlé's factory in York, maintaining their historical link to their namesake city. Despite various marketing evolutions, the brand remains under the global ownership of Nestlé, headquartered in Switzerland.
