Bis is one of Brazil's most iconic chocolate snacks, first launched in 1942 by Lacta. The brand is famous for its 'impossible to eat just one' marketing campaign, which has made it a staple in Brazilian households for decades. The snack consists of four layers of wafer filled and covered with chocolate.
Historically, the brand was created by the company Lacta, which was founded in São Paulo in 1912 by an expatriate group. Over the decades, ownership shifted; in 1996, American food giant Kraft Foods acquired Lacta. In 2012, Kraft Foods spun off its snack division into a new company called Mondelēz International. Today, Bis remains a cornerstone of the Mondelēz portfolio in Latin America, produced primarily in Brazilian factories to serve the local and regional markets.
