Pukka Herbs was founded in 2001 by Tim Westwell and Sebastian Pole in Bristol, United Kingdom, with a focus on organic herbal teas and Ayurvedic principles. The brand quickly became a global leader in the premium herbal tea market, known for its intricate packaging designs and commitment to ethical sourcing.

While the brand maintains its British heritage and primary manufacturing operations in the UK (specifically in Gloucestershire), its ownership has transitioned to major multinational corporations. In 2017, the global consumer goods giant Unilever acquired Pukka Herbs. Subsequently, in 2021, Unilever sold its tea division (Ekaterra) to the private equity firm CVC Capital Partners. Today, Pukka is part of the world’s largest tea business, now known as LIPTON Teas and Infusions, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and the UK.
