Marabou is a legendary Swedish chocolate brand founded in 1916. It was originally established by the Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst, the founder of the Freia chocolate factory. Since Freia was already a registered name in Sweden, the brand was named Marabou after the stork on the Freia logo.
Today, Marabou is one of Sweden's most beloved brands. Most Marabou products, including the popular milk chocolate with Daim pieces seen here, are manufactured at their large facility in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. The brand is now part of the global confectionery leader Mondelez International, which ensures its distribution across Scandinavia and worldwide. Through its ownership by Mondelez, Marabou participates in the 'Cocoa Life' sustainability program to ensure ethical sourcing of ingredients.
