The image displays an MG ZS EV, a fully electric subcompact crossover SUV. The MG brand (Morris Garages) boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1924 in Oxford, United Kingdom, where it became world-renowned for its lightweight two-seater sports cars. Over the decades, the brand transitioned through various owners, including British Leyland and the MG Rover Group.
Following the collapse of MG Rover in 2005, the brand was acquired by Nanjing Automobile Group, which subsequently merged with SAIC Motor (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation). Under SAIC's ownership, MG has been repositioned as a global brand focusing on mass-market electric and hybrid vehicles.
While the brand maintains a design and engineering technical centre in Marylebone, London, the mass production of vehicles like the ZS EV primarily takes place in SAIC’s advanced manufacturing facilities in China, such as the Ningde plant. This shift has allowed MG to become one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in the UK and Europe by leveraging Chinese battery technology and large-scale production efficiencies.
