From an ownership perspective, the brand has traditionally been a joint venture between Unilever and PepsiCo, known as the Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership. However, in 2022, Unilever sold the majority of its tea business (Ekaterra) to CVC Capital Partners. As of 2026, the Lipton brand remains under the stewardship of the Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership for ready-to-drink bottled beverages, while the dry tea leaf business is managed by Liptea (formerly Ekaterra).
