Doornkaat German Schnapps

Doornkaat is a historic German spirit with a legacy dating back to 1806, when it was founded by Jan ten Doornkaat Koolman in Norden, East Frisia. Originally a traditional family-run distillery, it became one of Germany's most recognizable consumer brands in the 20th century, famous for its unique three-fold distillation process which produces a particularly smooth 'Doppelkorn' or grain brandy.

Following significant industry consolidation in the late 20th century, the brand's production moved from its original home in Norden. Today, the brand is owned by the Berentzen Group, one of Germany's leading beverage producers. While the brand carries centuries of East Frisian heritage, it is now part of a larger corporate portfolio managed out of Haselünne, though it maintains its distinct identity as a classic German spirit.
