Schweppes is one of the world's oldest soft drink brands, originally founded in Geneva in 1783 by Johann Jacob Schweppe, who developed a process to manufacture carbonated mineral water. The brand later moved its headquarters to London in 1792. Today, the manufacturing of Schweppes products is highly decentralized to minimize logistics costs and carbon footprint, with production occurring in numerous countries through local bottling partners.
Ownership of the Schweppes brand is complex and split geographically. In mainland Europe (including Denmark), the brand is owned by the Suntory Beverage & Food, a subsidiary of the Japanese giant Suntory Holdings. In other regions like North America, it is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper, and in some markets like the UK and Australia, it is managed by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners or The Coca-Cola Company.
