Coop Xtra

Xtra is a value-oriented private label brand owned by the Nordic retail cooperative Coop. It was developed to provide consumers with a budget-friendly alternative to premium brands and Coop's other private labels (like Coop and Änglamark). The brand serves as the entry-level price point across various product categories including grocery staples, cleaning supplies, and personal care items.

Because Xtra is a private label for a large retail group, manufacturing is not centralized in one location. Instead, Coop contracts with numerous third-party manufacturers across Europe and Asia to produce goods according to their specifications. The brand's origin is rooted in the Scandinavian cooperative movement, which focuses on providing value to its member-owners.

Ownership of the Xtra brand is held collectively by the Nordic retail giants under the Coop umbrella. In Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, the brand is managed by their respective national Coop organizations. The brand maintains a consistent visual identity—typically a white background with blue and red text—to ensure high visibility and recognition as the most affordable option on the shelf.
