400 Conejos Mezcal Joven

400 Conejos is an artisanal Mezcal produced in the Tlacolula region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Its name, which translates to '400 Rabbits,' is rooted in ancient Mesoamerican mythology where the 400 rabbits were the children of the goddess Mayahuel and represented various states of intoxication.

The brand is celebrated for its traditional 'artesanal' production methods, which include milling the agave with a horse-drawn stone (tahona), fermenting in wooden tubs, and distilling in copper pot stills. Originally founded as an independent brand to showcase authentic Oaxacan craftsmanship, 400 Conejos was eventually acquired by the Jose Cuervo family's parent company, Becle, S.A.B. de C.V. This acquisition has allowed the brand to become one of the top-selling mezcals globally while maintaining its manufacturing roots in Mexico.
