Malcolm Allan is a venerable name in Scottish butchery, established in 1954 in Larbert, Scotland. Originally founded as a family-run butcher shop, the brand revolutionized the local market by expanding into wholesale and retail, eventually supplying major supermarket chains across the United Kingdom. They are particularly famous for their Lorne sausage, which accounts for over half of all Lorne sausage sales in Scotland, as well as their award-winning steak pies and mince products.
In July 2024, the brand entered a new era through its acquisition by the Macallan Food Group. This strategic move brought together two iconic Scottish brands—Malcolm Allan and Macsween of Edinburgh—under a single ownership structure. Manufacturing continues to be centered in their modern facilities in Larbert, Scotland, where the company maintains its commitment to traditional butcher shop quality while innovating in the healthy-eating sector, such as successfully reformulating recipes to reduce salt and fat content.
