Kellogg's Special K

Kellogg’s is one of the world's most iconic breakfast brands, originating in Battle Creek, Michigan, where it was founded by Will Keith Kellogg in 1906 following the accidental discovery of flaked cereal. Its Special K line, introduced in 1955, was the first cereal to be fortified with specific vitamins and minerals, positioning itself as a wellness-oriented option for health-conscious consumers.

Today, the manufacturing of Kellogg's products is a global operation. While the headquarters remain in Battle Creek, the cereal is produced in dozens of facilities across North America, Europe, Australia, and Latin America to serve local markets. This distributed supply chain ensures that the product consumed in Michigan might be made in a US factory, while the version found in London is likely produced in the United Kingdom.

In late 2023, the original Kellogg Company underwent a significant corporate restructuring, splitting into two distinct entities. The North American cereal business, including the Special K brand, is now owned and operated by WK Kellogg Co. Meanwhile, the snacking and international business (formerly known as Kellogg Company) was renamed Kellanova. As of 2024 and beyond, WK Kellogg Co remains the ultimate owner and operator of the cereal portfolio in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean.
