The Cast Enigma is a complex mechanical brainteaser designed by Eldon Vaughn from the United States and refined by the Japanese company Hanayama. First released in the 1970s and later re-introduced under the Hanayama 'Cast Puzzle' series, it is widely considered one of the most difficult puzzles in the line, ranked at Level 6 out of 6. The objective of the puzzle is to separate the three intertwined metal pieces and kemudian rejoin them.
Hanayama maintains the brand rights and artistic direction from its headquarters in Japan; however, like most of its cast puzzle line, the mass production is carried out in China to meet global distribution needs. The brand has achieved legendary status among puzzle enthusiasts for its high-quality zinc alloy construction and elegant designs, often sold internationally under names like BePuzzled or University Games in Western markets.
