Established in 1866, the brand has been a primary supplier of mill-based food products in Norway for over 160 years. Historically known as Møllerens, the company announced a strategic rebranding in early 2025 to transition products to the name 'Norgesmøllene' to better highlight its status as a Norwegian-owned company rooted in local agriculture.

The products are primarily manufactured in Norway at three key locations: Skien, Buvika, and Vaksdal. This distributed manufacturing model is part of Norway's national food security and emergency preparedness strategy, ensuring stable grain processing across different regions.

Ownership of the brand has evolved through consolidations of historic mills. Since April 2025, Norgesmøllene is 100% owned by Felleskjøpet Agri, a cooperative owned by Norwegian farmers. This ownership structure ensures that profits are reinvested back into the Norwegian agricultural sector and local communities, reinforcing the brand's commitment to sustainable, locally-produced food.
