Desigual is an iconic fashion brand renowned for its vibrant colors, asymmetrical designs, and patchwork aesthetics. Founded in 1984 by Thomas Meyer in Ibiza, Spain, the brand quickly moved its headquarters to Barcelona. From its inception, Desigual has been characterized by its 'La Vida es Chula' (Life is Cool) philosophy, emphasizing individuality and positivity through bold urban prints and eclectic textiles.

While the brand's creative direction and design processes are strictly centralized in Barcelona, Spain, its manufacturing is distributed globally to accommodate large-scale production requirements. Most garments are produced in centers across Asia (China, India, Vietnam) and the Mediterranean region (Turkey, Morocco). These locations are selected to balance high-volume output with the technical craftsmanship needed for the brand's complex patchwork designs.

Today, Desigual remains predominantly under the ownership of its founder, Thomas Meyer. After a period of minority investment from the French firm Eurazeo, Meyer repurchased 100% of the company in 2018. The brand continues to operate as an independent entity headquartered in its distinctive beachside building in Barcelona, maintaining its status as a leading Spanish fashion house with a presence in over 100 countries.
