Appletiser is a premium sparkling fruit juice brand known for its iconic clear glass bottles and crisp flavor profile. It was originally created in 1966 by French-Italian entrepreneur Edmond Lombardi in the Elgin Valley of South Africa. The product is manufactured using a unique process that blends clear, concentrated apple juice with carbonated water, marketed as a 'sparkling fruit juice' that contains 100% fruit juice with no added sugar, colorants, or preservatives.
Over the decades, the brand expanded from its South African roots to become an international lifestyle beverage. While it originated under Lombardi’s vision, the brand's global reach accelerated after its acquisition. Today, it is part of a vast global distribution network with production facilities in several regions, including South Africa and the United Kingdom, to serve various international markets.
In terms of ownership, Appletiser transitioned from a local South African brand to a global asset. It was heavily developed by SABMiller before being acquired by The Coca-Cola Company. Under Coca-Cola's stewardship, the brand has been integrated into their Stills and sparkling portfolio, maintaining its position as a sophisticated alternative to traditional soft drinks.
