Côte d'Or is one of the most iconic Belgian chocolate brands, established in 1883 by Charles Neuhaus. Its name is inspired by the Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana), which was the primary source of the high-quality cocoa beans used in the original recipe. The brand logo, featuring an elephant, has become a symbol of chocolate excellence across Europe.

While the brand maintains its historical identity and strong Belgian roots, it passed through several corporate hands during the 20th century. Today, Côte d'Or is part of the extensive snack and confectionery portfolio of Mondelez International. Most of its production still occurs in Belgium, notably at the factory in Halle, ensuring the preservation of the traditional Belgian chocolate crafting techniques that made the brand famous worldwide.
