Napapijri is an Italian premium leisurewear brand with a name that means 'Arctic Circle' in Finnish. It was founded in 1987 by Giuliana Rosset, who purchased a small firm that made travel bags and rebranded it with the iconic Norwegian flag logo. The brand quickly became famous for its functional yet stylish outdoor gear, specifically the Skidoo anorak, which was designed for high-altitude explorers.
While the brand's identity is deeply rooted in European exploration and Italian design, its manufacturing process occurs across a global supply chain, including factories in Asia and Europe. In 2004, the brand was acquired by VF Corporation, an American global apparel and footwear powerhouse, which has since integrated Napapijri into its portfolio of outdoor-focused brands, emphasizing sustainability and circular fashion initiatives like the Circular Series of recyclable jackets.
