Johnson Outboards was a highly recognizable brand of American outboard motors with a rich history dating back to 1922. For decades, the brand was a leader in the marine industry, known for its reliable two-stroke engines. The Johnson 25 HP model was particularly popular for its balance of power and portability, often used on small fishing boats and pleasure craft.

In 1935, Johnson merged with its rival, Evinrude, to form the Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC). However, OMC filed for bankruptcy in late 2000. The assets, including the Johnson and Evinrude brands, were subsequently acquired by the Canadian company Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP). While BRP continued to produce Johnson-branded four-stroke engines through an agreement with Suzuki for a period, they eventually focused exclusively on Evinrude's E-TEC technology before officially discontinuing the production of all outboard motors in 2020. Today, the Johnson name remains iconic in the secondary market and among marine enthusiasts.
