Discover where a brand or product originates
Founded in 1925 in Struer, Denmark, by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, the brand is synonymous with luxury audio-visual engineering and avant-garde design. Bang & Olufsen became a global icon for its commitment to both acoustic quality and aesthetic elegance, often collaborating with world-renowned designers to create products that double as art pieces.
Historically, the company maintained its own manufacturing facilities in Denmark. While the main R&D and core high-end assembly remains in Struer, the company expanded its industrial footprint in the 2000s by opening a major production facility in Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. Some portable products and components are also outsourced to specialized manufacturers in Asia to maintain competitiveness in the lifestyle audio market.
Bang & Olufsen remains a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ Copenhagen stock exchange. Unlike many other legacy audio brands that have been fully absorbed by larger multinational conglomerates, B&O has remained largely independent, although it has formed strategic partnerships and seen significant investments from various equity groups over the years.
