Founded in Helsingborg, Sweden, in 1886 by Carlos Zoéga, the company built its reputation on high-quality dark roasts. Today, Zoégas continues to roast a significant portion of its coffee at its dedicated roastery in Helsingborg, maintaining its Swedish heritage while sourcing coffee beans responsibly from global origins.

The brand's ownership transitioned in 1986 when it was acquired by the Swiss multinational corporation Nestlé. As of 2026, Nestlé remains the ultimate owner, managing the brand through its Swedish subsidiary, Nestlé Sverige AB. Zoégas is particularly well-known for products like Fikastund, which are tailored to the cultural Swedish coffee break tradition known as 'fika', emphasizing smooth and medium roast profiles suitable for all-day consumption.
