Mixa was founded in 1924 by a French apothecary in a pharmacy setting, initially specializing in products for sensitive skin and the treatment of 'red hands'. The brand gained immense popularity in France for its expertise in lipid-based formulas and dermatological efficacy, becoming a staple in French households for both children and adults.
In 1993, the brand was acquired by the L'Oréal Group. Under L'Oréal's stewardship, Mixa expanded from its traditional hand creams and baby care products into a comprehensive dermocosmetic brand offering facial care, body lotions, and hygiene products designed specifically for sensitive and reactive skin. While it remains deeply rooted in its French heritage, the brand is now distributed across Western and Eastern Europe.
Manufacturing takes place largely within L'Oréal’s specialized manufacturing facilities in France, such as those in the Vichy region or Northern France, though some production occurs in other European countries to serve regional markets. As of 2026, Mixa continues to operate as a key brand within L'Oréal’s Mass Market (Consumer Products) division.
