Marc Jacobs is an American luxury brand founded by fashion designer Marc Jacobs in 1984. While the brand is famous for its apparel and handbags, its eyewear line is a significant part of its accessory portfolio, blending high-fashion aesthetics with functional design.
The eyewear is produced through a licensing agreement with the Safilo Group, an Italian company that is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of optical frames and sunglasses. Consequently, most authentic Marc Jacobs glasses are manufactured in Safilo's high-end facilities in Italy. Since 2021, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of the French luxury conglomerate LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), which holds a majority stake. This ownership places the brand within the same corporate family as iconic names like Dior, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton.
