7-Eleven is a global retail icon that originated in Dallas, Texas, in 1927. Initially an ice house company named the Southland Ice Company, it pioneered the convenience store concept by selling milk, eggs, and bread. The name '7-Eleven' was adopted in 1946 to reflect the stores' extended operating hours from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, which was unprecedented at the time.

Today, 7-Eleven operates as part of a massive international network. While it began as an American brand, it underwent a significant shift in ownership during the late 20th century. Following financial challenges in the United States, its Japanese affiliate, Ito-Yokado, acquired a majority stake. This eventually led to the formation of Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd., which now serves as the ultimate parent company.

7-Eleven's private label products (such as 7-Select) are manufactured in multiple countries depending on the local market's supply chain. In North America, many items are produced domestically, while in Asia, production is distributed across Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia to serve local demographics. The brand remains the world's largest convenience retailer, synonymous with on-the-go consumption and 24/7 accessibility.
