Château Cantenac Brown is a prestigious wine estate located in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux region in France. Established in the early 19th century by Scottish animal painter John-Lewis Brown, the estate's heritage is deeply rooted in the Anglo-French wine trade. The characteristic Tudor-style château pictured on the label serves as a distinctive landmark in the Médoc landscape.
The wine is produced exclusively at the estate in Cantenac, following the strict regulations of the AOC Margaux. It was classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Cru) in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, a status it maintains today. Ownership has changed hands several times throughout the centuries, from the AXA Millésimes group to the Simon Halabi family. Since 2019, the estate has been owned by the Le Lous family (founders of the Urgo Group), who have focused on sustainable viticulture and the construction of an eco-responsible raw earth cellar.
